Position: Risk Manager

Location: Irving, TX

Reporting to: VP of Finance

Compensation: $24 - $34 per hour

Gather Resources is looking for a talented individual with 5 or more years of Risk experience in the credit/debit card payment processing industry.  As the Risk Manager, this candidate will ensure the protection of the company’s assets by managing the quality, accuracy, and consistency of data and transactions, while managing a team of risk analysts.

Role & Responsibilities:

  • Management of day-to-day activities and reporting, management of analysts

  • Works with the Leadership Team to understand and achieve business and strategic goals; documents and implements procedures and controls to mitigate losses to protect the company

  • Appropriately staffs the unit; hires and trains employees; plans, assigns, directs, measures, and adjusts staff and workflows as necessary

  • Addresses complaints and resolves problems, serves as escalation manager for analysts

  • Ensures compliance with all regulations associated with the card portfolios and minimizes reputational risk through the use of industry "best practices"

  • Safeguards corporate and customer assets, consumer confidence, and reputation of the business

  • Oversees department and ensures applications are boarded on time in adherence with credit guidelines

  • Manages, measures, and reports the monitoring and processing of statistics and collections efforts

  • Analyzes and interprets regulatory authorities' rules and regulations, incorporates into workflow

  • Other special projects, research, or tasks, as assigned

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, excellent listening and interpersonal skills

  • High level of integrity and excellent judgment concerning private/sensitive matters

  • High level of knowledge of the card payment system; authorization, clearing, and settlement

  • Thorough understanding of card data security standards, card processing regulations

  • Excellent leadership skills; ability to motivate staff and manage with limited resources

Experience Required:

  • Minimum 5 years of direct acquiring experience 

  • Expertise in fraud prevention and High-Risk merchants

  • Demonstrated experience with transaction authentication tools

  • Proficient in MS Office applications, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

  • Proficient with TSYS and other Acquiring Solutions tools, including Access One, CyRis, Express/e-connections, CBOS, and MerLink strongly preferred
