Position: Human Resources Specialist
Location: Irving, TX
Reporting to: Director of Human Resources
The Human Resources Specialist will assist the Director of Human Resources to support the Human Resources functions within the organization. Responsible for the coordination and maintenance of the Company’s human capital systems, processes, policies, and administration, this position will work closely with management and will be required to build effective relationships to assist in meeting the Company’s needs as it relates to its employees, culture, and business objectives.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Strong focus on the administration of the Company’s benefits program from enrollment to COBRA; including open enrollment efforts and 401k administration.
Monitors eligibility, limitations, and restrictions of plan participation and ensures compliance with both plan provisions and government requirements.
Provides guidance and counsel to employees regarding the Company’s benefit plans.
Assists in the development and delivery of a variety of presentations to inform and educate employees about changes to benefits plans, administrative practices, and legislated requirements and programs.
Reconcile billing related to the Company’s comprehensive benefit plans.
Assist the Director of Human Resources with researching current benefit trends and regulatory requirements to provide recommendations for plan changes.
Assist with the pre-employment processes between the candidate and the Company related to criminal background checks, drug and alcohol testing, selection assessments, and reference checks.
Conducts new hire orientation and related personnel administration. Ensures accuracy and legal compliance on all new hire administration, including completion and maintaining I-9 records.
Participate in the coordination of company culture and engagement initiatives such as birthday recognition, service anniversary recognition, and wellness programs.
Create and maintain employee benefit files, ensuring all filing requirements are in line with company policies and government regulations.
Responsible for data entry which includes compiling data from various areas to prepare reports related to HR initiatives.
Answers inquiries on general employment verification, benefits, and company policies.
May assist the Director of Human Resources in investigations pertaining to employee complaints, workplace safety, or any other related concerns brought to Human Resources attention.
Assist in conducting exit interviews with employees who decide to resign from the Company.
Assist with maintaining the organizational charts and employee directory.
Perform related projects and duties as assigned.
Assist in relieving the Receptionist for breaks and/or lunches as needed.
Document and maintain position processes to help ensure position continuity and for reference.
Practice and comply with all regulations promoting a safe and healthy work environment (i.e. OSHA).
Adhere to privacy; confidential, proprietary company policies and procedures (i.e. HIPAA)
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and related work experience
SHRM-CP or PHR Certification preferred
3+ years of human resources experience as a coordinator or generalist
Experience in healthcare or related industry preferred
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Must be able to establish and maintain productive, positive, and cooperative relationships with employees at all levels, partners, and outside vendors. Includes resolving interpersonal conflicts, correcting misunderstandings or errors and applying basic staff etiquette in dealing with others.
